MEET THE CAST AND CREW

MICHAEL SCHWARTZ
DIRECTOR

Michael's favorite directing credits include WAITING FOR GODOT at Portland Stage Company and Nicky Silver's PTERODACTYLS. He is also extremely proud of the time he spent with the national tour of RENT and the work he did for Barry Manilow's never-made-it-to-Broadway-musical HARMONY. Other recent credits include THE BOURGEOIS GENTLEMAN, BATBOY: THE MUSICAL, and URINETOWN. Michael has worked extensively in educational theater with the International Schools Theatre Association--teaching physical comedy workshops around the world--and has taught classes for students and adults at Junior Theatre, the Old Globe Theatre and La Jolla Playhouse. He holds a certificate in commedia dell'arte from the Dell 'Arte Players in Blue Lake and an MFA in directing from UC San Diego where he remains a visiting instructor. Michael has directed a play in a car (WoW Festival, La Jolla Playhouse) and performed wearing a wetsuit inside a giant puppet of Aprodite (SEAFOAM SLEEPWALK.) His most recent projects include directing UBU, the Producer's Pick award winner, for last year's San Diego Fringe Festival and a different version of this very play at Southwestern Community College.

NADJA LANCELOT
DESIGNER

Nadja is a scenic and costume designer living in San Diego. She works in film as well as theatre having served as art director on several Disney, Universal Studios and Paramount productions. Theatre work includes UBU Roi for the Fringe, Having Our Say at the La Jolla Playhouse, Wedding on the Eiffel Tower, The Painting and John Doe at the San Diego Rep, Why We Have a Body at the Diversionary, Macbeth, Mad Forest, and Don Juan at UCSD. Nadja is an MFA graduate from the Theatre Department at UCSD. She also owns and operates her own business called Tum Tum Arts where she creates pregnancy belly casts, paints on silk and produces murals.

Tracy likes long walks along the beach (alone), listening to mp3's of Disney movies as she drives, collecting baby spoons, and helping Michael ensure theatrical mayhem is always afoot in San Diego.

Michael is super-stoked to be apart of another Max Fischer Players madcap fringe-venture. Michael's previous theatrical credits include: Ubu Roi (Max Fischer Players- producers pick at San Diego Fringe Festival), Seafoam Sleepwalk  and Accomplice at La Jolla Playhouse, San Diego, I Love You , Bearded and  No Place Like Home at Circle Circle Dot Dot, Golden Child at Chinese Pirate Prod., Over the River and Through the Woods at Scripps Ranch Theatre, John Doe at John Doe Prod. and The Frogs at Theatre Inc. Television and commercial credits include: The Fugitive Chronicles on A&E and Team Kia on Fox5.

KATHERINE HARROFF, MARTINE

Katherine graduated from ASU with an MFA in Performance in 2008.  She is now proudly the founding Artistic Director and Head Playwright of the San Diego Community-Based Theatre Company Circle Circle dot dot.  Recent writing and directing credits with CCdd include: Bearded, DerbyWise, San Diego, I Love You, Street. Art. Prophets., Ragnarok, Deconstruction of a Drag Queen, and The Break-Up/Break-Down.  Katherine is the Head Community Teaching Artist for The Old Globe’s Community Voices project for whom she has helped underserved adults in San Diego develop Playwriting skills.  She was recently honored as one of U-T San Diego’s ‘Theatre Artist to Watch’ for 2014, and San Diego Magazine’s “50 People to Watch” in 2013.  Circle Circle dot dot will proudly be in residence at the nationally recognized La Jolla Playhouse in the Summer of 2014.  For more information about Circle Circle dot dot, please visit circle2dot2.com.

AJ KNOX, JACQUELINE

AJ Knox is an actor, director, playwright, and designer, originally from San Diego. He holds his BA in Theatre from Loyola Marymount University, his MA in Theatre Education from Emerson College, and his PhD in Drama from Tufts University. He recently founded the Ocean Beach Ensemble Experiment, an emerging ensemble theatre company. Performance credits include bobrauschenbergamerica (Bob), Pterodactyls (Arthur), Little Shop of Horrors (The Dentist), Fuddy Meers (Millet), Six Degrees of Separation (Rick), Hamlet (Rosencrantz), and Rumors (Ken). Directing credits include The Taste of Fears, Mr. Marmalade, The Alchemist, Endgame, The Laramie Project, and Picasso at the Lapin Agile.

PATRICK KELLY, M. ROBERT / LEANDRE

Patrick's acting credits include: Fences and History Boys at Cygnet, As Much As You Can at Diversionary, A Raisin in the Sun  at Moxie, Shopping and F**king and Last Days of Judas Iscariot at Triad Productions, Christmas is Coming Uptown at Common Ground, Ain't You Heard  at Ira Aldridge Players, Breakup/Breakdown, Ragnarok, and Street Art Prophets at Circle Circle Dot Dot. Assistant Director: Man of La Mancha at Cygnet, and A Raisin in the Sun at Moxie. Director: San Diego I Love You, Bearded, and San Diego I love you 2.0 at Circle Circle Dot Dot. Patrick has a BA in performance from San Diego State University. He is the Technical/Managing Director of Circle Circle dot dot and was Festival Manager of the 2013 San Diego Fringe Festival.

BETH GALLAGHER, LUCINDE

Beth is thrilled to be working with the marvelous Max Fischer Players again, and to appearing in her first SD Fringe show! She has been lucky enough to Michael Schwartz as a director for recent productions of Gruesome Playground Injuries and Moving Arts' Car Plays at the La Jolla Playhouse. Other selected credits include: Boeing Boeing at OB Playhouse, Barefoot in the Park at Patio Playhouse, The Psychic at Different Stages, Come Back, Little Sheba at Community Actor's Theatre and Anita Bryant Died for Your Sins at Diversionary. Beth is originally from Philadelphia, but has lived in San Diego for the past eight years. She has a Masters Degree in Theatre Arts and a teaching credential from San Diego State University.

JASON LUNA, LUCAS

Jason is glad to be featured in his second Max Fischer Players’ production,after being a featured player in 2012’s “Ubu”. Besides winning 1 million dollars on the NBC game show “1 vs. 100” in 2008, Jason has also starred in Boston University’s production of John Fletcher’s Tamer Tam’d in 2013, and studied at the Groundlings Improv School in LA from 2011-12. He hopes to be a neurotic writer/director/actor some day. He is really good at fantasy baseball, reads comic books compulsively, and taps his foot to Carly Simon music on the radio.

KYLE LORD, GERONTE

Kyle is excited to reprise the role of Geronte after performing in Michael Schwartz's Southwestern College production of The Reluctant Doctor. Kyle has also played the role of Franny in Balm in Gilead directed by Ruff Yeager. Mr. Lord is very excited to be able to show his talent on a stage fit for an audience out side of his usual school environment.

ANDREW WOODEND, VALERE

Theatre has been a part of Andrew's life for many years now. He has performed throughout high school and college and is a member of the International Thespian Society. After a brief hiatus to work behind the scenes in Stagecraft, he is excited to finally be back onstage with a wonderful group of talented and entertaining individuals. Andrew is proud to be part of this presentation of hilarious hijinks.
